Numeracy is a big issue in Bolivia. We have collaborated with a local university to create an online program for schoolchildren to improve their maths skills

In cooperation with Gabriel Rene Moreno University in Santa Cruz, Bolivia, we run our 'Matematicas y Sociedad, Estoy contigo' ('Maths and society, I'm with you') program. Currently, 74% of first year students at the university fail their maths module. The purpose of this program is therefore to help low income students improve their maths skills through the use of information technology.

We have equipped 16 schools with dedicated IT suites and internet connectivity and the university has developed an online interactive maths tool. University tutors monitor performance and provide coaching. As an incentive for students, awards are given to high performing pupils at the end of the year.
